Third, hardware selection. Bathroom is a rather wet space, you also need to pay attention to the metal part of the vanity and to choose stainless steel or aluminum is always advisable. Meanwhile, the coating for the hardware should also not be overlooked. The thickness for general chrome finish hardware is 20 microns. But the metal behind it will be oxidized as time goes. Therefore it's better to choose hardware with 28-thick coating.
Something that has become more popular in recent years with people trying to create a more custom look in their bathroom is what they call a bathroom furniture vanity. It is called a furniture vanity, because people were literally taking antique furniture and retro-fitting them to accommodate plumbing and a sink. Because of the demand for this type of vanity, manufacturers finally started creating vanities that look like antique pieces of furniture. You will find this type of vanity in a lot of the higher end homes that want to keep the custom look of the house flowing into the bathroom. The possibilities are endless when it comes to furniture vanities, and the prices can range from a couple hundred up to a couple thousand. This is a great look if you have the big budget required to have your bathroom look as nice as the vanity does!
In my personal experience, I ordered 2 vanities when the manufacturer was switching from wood with veneers to MDF with veneers because of the cost savings. Although they said the veneer held up better on the MDF. Anyway, I have one of each type. On the outside they look the same and nobody would ever have known the difference except for the fact that I have 4 small dogs who just won't stop marking territories. All I do is clean up pee but I love them dearly and my husband doesn't want to cut off their 'you know whats'. Anyway, because of my personal sitution the MDF is a poor choice. The corners of the vanities have been constantly pee'd on and the MDF vanity is now swollen with curled up veneers. The wood vanity shows no damage from pee. Please note the MDF vanity looks great where it wasn't pee'd on.
